Armoured vehicles case study - Fox News
W4Drive has developed a strong relationship with Fox News by treating their goals as shared and building a reputation on honesty and reliability. We work with various internal teams to ensure that time, cost and quality objectives are met in the most effective and efficient way.
Whilst we manage a diverse range of requirement types, a recent requirement was for a highly mobile and versatile vehicle that could safely transport a team of journalists in Iraq, armoured to level B6. Through detailed assessment of the criteria and various options available we recommended a Toyota 4X4 Landcruiser 105 with full armour. We managed the full process of sourcing the vehicle, quality-proofing the armour conversion and logistics of delivering the vehicle into northern Iraq.
Some time into their assignment and en route to a US Military base in Mosul, the vehicle was subjected to a sustained, pre-planned ambush by insurgents. Using high-velocity, automatic weapons the attacking force would have almost certainly disabled a less well protected vehicle. The news crew were able to ride out the attack despite taking numerous hits and arrive safely at their destination.
